We are professionals with decades of experience writing Business Plans and Marketing Plans, securing venture capital and angel funding, and providing IT and SEO services. The two main principals of D&M Business Consulting wrote their first Business Plan back in 1993 while one was finishing his studies at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business and the other was running his business after recently finishing-up at the University of Southern California's School of Music. The school's top-ranked Entrepreneurial Studies department was where one spent his final year, and writing a Business Plan was essentially the "thesis" paper. They both had a great and similar idea for a new venture and decided to team-up and turn a college assignment into something much bigger.
Their Business Plan went on to win the department's coveted "Best Business Plan" award. But while most students wrote a fictitous Business Plan for their final assignment, this plan was real world, and raised $1 million in funding for their first venture together as business partners (a television production company that provided entertainment news to such clients as Fox Broadcasting, NBC, ABC, CBS, MTV, VH-1, and Univision).
Prior to working together, the principals spent years as businessmen and entrepreneurs. One had founded a computer systems consulting company and worked with clients such as Xerox, ARCO and various small businesses. The other came from an entertainment, retail and fundraising background and was leading the sales department for a Los Angeles-based brokerage firm where he raised investment funding for a variety of projects (film and TV productions, oil & gas ventures, and for the brokerage firm itself).
After founding their first venture together, their success led them into several other ventures, including a digital distribution technology, a record label (distributed by EMI), a fine-dining restaurant venture with a Michelin Star Chef, a music TV network, a distillery and fine-food company, as well as an entertainment production and marketing company affiliated with international giant Universal Music Group and Vivendi Home Entertainment. There they worked closely with both new and established music artists (even Grammy® award winners) and oversaw numerous national marketing campaigns and product launches. Their marketing campaigns and products have garnered exposure in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Billboard, Jet Magazine, Steve Harvey Show, Village Voice, Downbeat, Music Connection Magazine, L.A. Weekly, New Jersey Star Ledger, Today Show New York, FOX Broadcasting, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, MTV, VH-1, Univision, 100's of radio stations across the country, 1000's of movie theaters across the country, and more. They have also won awards for their expertise in marketing, beating giants affiliated with American Express.
Through their efforts they were able to secure major distribution for their entertainment company, first with giant EMI and then with mega giant Universal Music Group.
